Do you use a Google product every day in your work or personal life?
Whether it is Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, YouTube, Android, or something more specialised like Google Analytics or Google Ads, if you enjoy learning about the tools you use and helping others understand them, there is an opportunity you should be aware of.
Let me introduce you to the Google Product Expert Programme.
Google Product Expert Programme
The Product Expert (PE) Programme is one of Google’s largest and most active global communities. It brings together people who are passionate about Google’s products, want to deepen their knowledge, and enjoy helping others by answering questions in the official Google Support Communities.
This is not a job or a formal career path. It is an opportunity to build product knowledge, give back to a global community, and in many cases, benefit from some unique perks.
There are currently over 1,300 Product Experts supporting more than 40 Google products in over 24 languages.
These experts help answer millions of user questions every year. They are often invited to work more closely with Google teams, including beta testing, providing feedback, and participating in product discussions.
You don’t need to be a developer, a technical expert, or even work in the tech industry. If you are curious, helpful, and regularly use a Google product, you are likely a good fit.
What Do You Gain from Participating?
Google recognises the time and value that Product Experts contribute. In return, you will have access to:
- Badges that highlight your expertise on support forums
- Private communities to learn and collaborate with other experts
- Direct communication channels with Google teams
- Invitations to beta testing and trusted tester programmes
- Virtual events, workshops, and skill development sessions
- Access to the annual Product Expert Summit, including travel and accommodation
- Exclusive Google Product Expert merchandise
- Valuable experience to support your CV and professional development
More than anything, it is an excellent way to build in-depth product knowledge and understand how users interact with technology worldwide.
Who Should Consider This?
This programme could be ideal for you if:
- You regularly use a Google product for work or personal projects
- You enjoy solving problems and sharing your knowledge

- You want to join a meaningful online community while learning at your own pace

How to Get Involved
There is no formal application process to begin with. You start by contributing in the public Google Support Communities. Select a product you use frequently, and start helping other users by answering questions and sharing solutions.
If you consistently show helpfulness and accuracy, you may be invited to join the programme as a Rising Star. From there, you can grow into full Product Expert status.
Your contributions are always voluntary, and there is no pressure or schedule to follow.
Let’s Talk About It
I am Tim Capper, a Google Business Profile Product Expert for over a decade, and now also a Product Expert Ambassador. If this has piqued your interest, I’d be happy to arrange a brief Google Meet session to explain how it works and what you can expect.
If you decide to move forward, I can also help connect you with a mentor in your chosen product area, someone who is already active in the community and can guide you as you get started.
And if you are particularly interested in Google Business Profiles, that is my specialist area, and we can proceed directly from there.
Ready to Explore What’s Next?
This programme is a rare opportunity. It costs nothing, it is flexible, and it offers genuine personal and professional value.
You can explore new tools, help others, connect with people from all over the world, and be recognised by Google for your contributions.
If you are curious and would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.
