Google Business Pages New Photo Layout & Manage Photos

Google My Business has launched a new photo layout for business pages to manage their business  photos. This new photo layout replaced the initial Manage Photo section launched in Feb 2015. The new photo layout fits within the “mobile first” design that Google is moving towards.

New Key Features:

  • Customer photos: We now show merchants the photos that customers have posted to their listing
  • Optional photo tags: Merchants can now upload a mix of photos into the overview section and no longer need to place them in separate sections unless they want to
  • Simplified primary photo: The cover photo now will be the preferred primary photo by default for new users

Business Photos FAQ’s

Q: How does GMB order my photos?
A: Photos are in order of recency. In the future, we may add additional options for ordering photos.

Q: Can I select more than one chip to fine-tune the photo filters?
A: No. You can select only one chip at a time.

Q: Can I apply tags to the photos my customers upload?
A: No. Customer photos are not yet eligible for tagging.

Q: Can I specify the order in which my photos will display?
A: No. Photo order on Maps is currently determined based on quality, which is defined by image size and other attributes, like sharpness (i.e. not blurry). Photo order in GMB is determined by recency.
