Verify a Google Business Profile Without a Postcard

Verifying a Google Business Profile with is no longer possible as Google switches to Video Verification. I have seen a few instances still where postcard verification has been offered but these will become fewer and fewer as the new video method fully rolls out.

Video Verification

Video verification has so many pain points for users at the minute.

Google is aware and trying to streamline the process for a better experience. (I do wish they would roll out a working product rather than fix it on the fly.) But it’s here to stay, so you may as well give it a bash and get to grips with this, especially if you are doing this for clients.

Video Verification Fails

If you are unlucky and your video verification keeps failing, use the Verification Checker to request verification help.

I don’t know why I have to say this repeatedly, but when filling in the verification help form, use all the attached image and document requests. The more you provide, the better your chances are of a quick verification approval.

Preferred Verification Method

This is my preferred verification go to method now, especially when the business owner is okay with you getting all the ducks in the row for an easier verification.

Established Business:

  • Location Business – Address in Footer Site Wide
  • SAB – Address on About and Contact Us Pages
  • Domain Email for Google Search Console & Analytics
  • Give it a Few Days for Google to Update
  • Use Domain Email to Create GBP or Claim

Brand New Business:

Exactly the same process but with the addition of building some better business citations and allow a couple to get indexed before requesting verification.

And don’t forget to update the address in social profiles, why do people always forget to add their addresses in their social profiles.

One final thing, please be realistic with this preferred method of verification, like shared offices, near PO Box centres, or some bizaar address like a river boat.

Those Problem Profiles

Sometimes you get those problem business profiles that defy all reasonable logic in getting verified.

When this happens, delete the profile created in account, make sure that those citations have been indexed and address is on website.

Then add to Maps (don’t forget images), from there you can claim the profile and it should be seamless, assuming you have got everything in place above.
