Check Your Google Business Profile Verification Status

Not sure whether your Google Business Profile is verified?

Perhaps you have just taken over managing a business, inherited several locations or completed verification but are still unsure whether Google has actually approved it.

Thankfully, there are two straightforward ways to check your Google Business Profile verification status without going around in circles.

You can check directly through your Google Business Profile account or use Google’s dedicated verification status checker.

Check Your Google Business Profile Dashboard

The quickest place to start is your Google Business Profile account.

Go to: Google Business Profile Manager

Make sure you are signed in using the Google account that owns or manages the Business Profile.

If you manage several businesses or locations, you should see a list of profiles associated with that account.

Look under the Status column. A successfully verified profile should display its verified status.

You can also open an individual profile to check its status.

If Google still requires verification, you may see a message explaining that the business is not visible to customers, together with a Get Verified option.

A verified profile should provide access to the normal management features, although Google may still display other notifications or warnings that need your attention.

Google has changed the Business Profile interface several times, so your dashboard may look slightly different from the screenshots above.

You can also manage individual profiles directly through Google Search by searching for your business name while signed in to the associated Google account.

Use Google’s Verification Status Checker

Google also provides a dedicated tool for checking the verification status of a Business Profile.

Go to: Google Business Profile Verification Status Checker

Sign in using the Google account associated with your Business Profile.

The tool checks the verification status of Business Profiles associated with your account.

Depending on the profile, it may indicate that verification has been completed, is still pending or is required.

If you manage multiple Business Profiles, select the relevant location to check its status.

If Google indicates that the profile still requires verification, the tool can direct you towards the appropriate next steps.

The status checker can also provide access to additional support options when verification has become a problem. I cover this in more detail in Verification Help via Status Tool for Google Business Profiles.

Your Google Business Profile Is Not Verified

If your profile is showing as unverified, the next step depends on the reason.

If you have never completed verification, Google should provide the available verification method when you select Get Verified.

This might involve video verification, phone, SMS, email or another method offered by Google. You cannot necessarily choose the method you would prefer because Google determines which options are available for the business.

If you have already submitted a verification video, there is little point in immediately trying to start the process again while Google is still reviewing it.

Check whether verification is pending before taking further action.

If verification has failed, review the reason given and make sure the business information and evidence meet Google’s requirements before attempting another submission.

Google Business Profile verification can be frustrating enough without repeatedly submitting the same information and expecting a different outcome.

Your Business Profile Is Missing From the Account

If you sign in and cannot find the business you are looking for, this does not automatically mean the profile is unverified.

You may simply be signed in with the wrong Google account.

This happens more often than you might think, particularly when a business has been managed by several employees, agencies or previous owners.

Check any other Google accounts that may have been used to create or manage the profile.

If somebody else owns the Business Profile, you may need to request access rather than create another listing for the same business.

Creating a duplicate profile because you cannot find the original is not going to make your life any easier.

Verified Does Not Always Mean Visible

There is another distinction worth mentioning.

A verified Google Business Profile does not guarantee that your business will appear for every relevant search in Google Maps or local search results.

Verification confirms that Google has accepted the verification process for the business. It does not guarantee rankings or prominent local visibility.

A profile can also encounter other issues after verification, including restrictions, suspension or requests for reverification.

If your Business Profile is verified but not appearing where you expect, check for any warnings or restrictions before assuming there is a verification problem.

For example, a Google Business Profile suspended for deceptive content is a different issue from a profile that has simply never completed verification.

And if Google is requesting supporting documentation during an appeal, make sure you understand what evidence is actually required. Sending more documents does not necessarily mean you are sending the right ones, something I have covered in Businessplaining Your Google Business Profile Appeal Documents Won’t Work.

Managing Several Business Locations

If you manage multiple locations, Google Business Profile Manager is particularly useful for checking their individual statuses.

Do not assume that because one location is verified, every other location in the account must also be verified.

Each Business Profile has its own status, and changes to business information can sometimes trigger additional verification requirements.

Businesses managing several locations should periodically check their profiles for verification issues, restrictions and unexpected changes.

This is particularly important when adding new branches or transferring management between accounts. There are additional considerations when setting up multi-location Google Business Profiles, especially where several people or teams are involved.
